Description
Dutch Shipping In Focus 1960-1969 is the second part of a series that sheds light on the Dutch shipping trade per decade. The books will take you back to the early part of the twentieth century and follow the ships and the shipping companies until the twenty-first century.
The Sixties depicts the changes in the ships; it started in the 1950's with still more streamlining and mass production. The Victories and the Liberties and other standard ships were still sailing but they were soon to be drifted off. We will see that more and more bulk carriers made their entry in the ever-changing shipping world. Traditional coasting navigation was still flourishing but newer and bigger coasters were soon to take its place. And we also saw the naissance of the RoRo ships. These were the years that many shipping companies were still thinking of building new ships and further extending their scheduled services.
